Sailing Home birthday

Created a masculine birthday card with the Sailing Home stamp set and dies.

start by creating the masking template. I used one of the circle dies and cut it out of a 5 x 33/4 piece of white cardstock.

Place it over another 5 x 3 3/4 cardstock and washi tape it if you wish so it doesn't move around.

start the sponging of the water by placing a piece of scrap paper with a straight edge over the top half of the circle opening.

Ink your sponge in bermuda bay and start off the edge on the template portion and move in circles into the opening that will become the water. This should get the inky portion on the template and let you blend into the circle better without making dark blobs from putting the sponge right on the piece that will become the card.

Repeat the sponging of the water until it is your desired shading or color. You can blend multiple colors if you'd like too.

Once the water is complete, flip the straight edge so the water is covered and the sky is blank.

Do the same steps on the sky using pacific point or your desired color. Start off on the template and blend into the circle opening. When it is to your liking you can put some water spots on it.

To create the water spots you can use an aqua painter or even just a paint brush.

Get a little water on a clear block and get it into the bristles of your brush. Then flick or tap the water off onto the circle of sky/water.

That's it...just a little tap will do it. You are just doing this for a little different effect. You can omit this and it will still look good.

take the template off and continue with the rest of the card.

Use some black ink to put some birds up in the sky. I did two sets and took some of them way off of the circle.

stamp your sentiment with black ink in the lower left of the card.

On a separate piece of white, stamp the larger sailboat with memento black ink.

Cut it out using the die from the bundle.

Use your stampin blends to color in the boat. I used light seaside spray for the boat, light smoky slate for the sail and bermuda bay light and dark for the water. After I colored I went back and hilighted some of the darker areas to try and give it a little more depth.

Pop that up with dimensionals on the right side. I overlapped into the circle some.

I used a bermuda bay A2 card base

Seaside Spray is the middle layer at 5 1/4 x 4

adhere those two layers together and then put the white layer you just created on top of that.
